I like collecting quotes for my art journal. Anyone want to share? I'll start with two by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:
“The meaning of things lies not in the things themselves, but in our attitude towards them.”
“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

I was relieved to know that I'm not the only quote geek in existence at the chap book meeting last night. This is one of my favorites. I hope I see some new ones around here:
The rituals of making... a constant process of doing and undoing... between pain and pleasure... privacy and disclosure... fact and fable... a never ending love affair between the artist and object making.
-Sandra Saldanha

here are a few I love...
"Rule one: Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things" Rahm Emanuel (This quote just sums up how i feel about life and when I've made mistakes...plus I think Rahm Emanuel has guts...I like that in a person.)
"I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days - three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain." John Keats
"There come moments when one feels obligated to declare one's debts. We feel it our duty to say what we owe to friends" Jacques Derrida (This is one of my favorites...I came across it as a undergrad and loved it..I think it's so true. And he wrote this during an elegy to one of his friends and fellow philosophers, Sarah Kafman.)

Keat's quote reminds me of this one from Dylan Thomas:
I don't want you for a day: a day is the length of a gnat's life: I want you for the lifetime of a big, mad animal, like an elephant.

I love the Enfant Terrible, too. Never tire of him. Have you read his love letters? Everyone should receive letters with such sentiments.
btw, I love the quote from Rahm Emmanuel, too. I will defintely keep that in mind, for future reference. Quelle useful.
